SAVE OUR NEIGHBORHOOD-HELP STOP STUART HALL'S DEMOLITIONS
Stuart Hall's appeal of the HCDRC denial of demolition of the
landmarked houses at 8134 and 8142 Panola will go before the City
Council on April 15, City Council Chambers, City Hall. Meeting
starts at 10:00 a.m. but land use matters usually start after
11:30 p.m.
We can stop Stuart Hall's destruction of our neighborhood!!!
How?
We have to convince the City Council Members that now is the
time to vote for our neighborhood and stop Stuart Hall's destructive
expansion. To do this we need to
1. Attend the April 15th Council Meeting. We have to be there
in force to get their attention.
2. Write to individual Council Members, especially those who
should vote for us or who should not vote because of family relations
with the school.
Batt - is a hopeless case but write anyway.
Clarkson - is for neighborhoods and historic preservation. We
need to convince her that this time she should vote for our neighborhood
and not allow historic homes to be destroyed.
Gill-Pratt - also says she is for neighborhoods. Will she apply
that principle outside of her own district?
Gusman - His daughter works as Stuart Hall. He reclused himself
from voting last time the issue came before the Council and I
think he will again recluse himself for this vote.
Sapir - Has the capability to provide real leadership as an at-large
member of the Council, if he doesn't just follow the District
Council member's lead.
Thomas - He's the other at-large representative on the Council.
He founded the HCDRC and has said he would not vote against their
decisions. We need to remind him of this commitment.
Willard-Lewis - She had a nephew at Stuart Hall and her bother
was on the Board of Trustees. She should recluse herself and we
need to communicate with her about the importance of doing so.
We won the verdict with the HCDRC and Stuart Halls demolition
application were denied. We could win again if we show our opposition
to these destructive plans in a manner they cannot ignore.
PLEASE!!! Be at this Council Meeting. Help SAVE OUR NEIGHBORHOOD.
PS I will try to get a better estimate on what time the issue
will come up but I will not be able to get this information until
Tuesday or Wednesday before the meeting. Check our web side -
