To be replaced by a 2 story gymnasium

Architectural features: An Edwardian mansion with generous returning gallery and prominent tile roofing, this house was designed to be seen from all sides. Horizontal and raking cornices outline the prominent front and side gables, calling attention to the monumental roof. The large single-light windows allow sunlight to flood the interior, where generous spaces flow freely in the design. Inappropriate School paving has added a harsh note to the graceful garden space designed for lawns, walkways and old fashioned New Orleans shrubbery.

History: This house was build by Metropolitan Building Co. for Dudley A. Walsh around the end of 1911 or the beginning of 1912. In 1923 Peter W. Schneider purchased this house. It appears that various members of the Schneider family owned and lived in this house for 37 years. In 1960, the Carrollton Presbyterian Church purchase it and in January of 2002 sold it the Stuart Hall School.

HDLC Staff report conclusion: : (The HDLC staff gave this house a Blue rating which means that it is a "Building of Major Architectural Importance.") "This house is one of the most architecturally significant houses in the area. The monumental roof, wrap around porch and other architectural features make it stand out in the Carrollton area. Built in 1912, it is one of the earliest houses in the immediate area...it does embody distinguishing characteristics of an architectural type..inherently valuable for a study of period, style, method of construction....Based on its architectural significance, the staff recommendation is for designation."
